In a world where everything is moving ever faster, where our time is limited and we decide to spend no more than 20 seconds watching videos online, why create a 'blog' section on my site? Honestly, I don't know. Well... I do have a few arguments.

I like the idea of sharing some of my thoughts, and being able to talk about food from a different angle. Because yes, I think food is a much wider world than what we see on our plates. We have to consider a tree, a soil, a plant, a person who grows our vegetable, a type of climate, a means of delivery, a road, and many other things. And all these elements fascinate me, and allow me to think further.

I also love being able to discuss and debate food history and food fads, whether it's New-York rolls, pistachios in all our dishes, or even pumpkin spice latte during fall. I find it interesting that these trends are finding a global audience, and in a way uniting people living in opposite parts of the globe. Good or bad, these trends have the merit of having an audience, and I want to talk about them in the form of short articles.

Because food is also linked to other subjects that interest me. Whether it's our relationship with ourselves, with our bodies or with other human beings. I also see certain types of food as being associated with certain chapters in our lives. I studied in Canada for three years, and during that time I was obsessed with ice cream (I know, it's surprising), pancakes, and beyond-meat burgers. While some might say that this was simply an interest in North American food, I'd argue that it wasn't, and that Canada has a lot more to offer than just fast food (you just have to open your eyes). I want to think about why we love certain types of food in certain parts of our lives, and why we hate them in others. Could the meal we prepare be linked to a mental state? To a point of view on the world? Is there a social pressure by which we must consume certain products at certain times in our lives? This is the type of subject that I would also like to develop.

I also want to be able to invite certain friends and acquaintances to express themselves and talk about their visions of food. Because my friends inspire me on a daily basis, and also because we're different. I grew up in Belgium and studied in Canada and Paris. Some of my friends grew up in Africa, Asia, the United States and other European countries. Their vision of the world, and of food, is different, and I like talking with them about it. I'm lucky to have such diversity in my circle, and in a way I want to share it with the "world" (because my friends are incredible).

I'm 26, and my thoughts change every day. Literally, every day. I just want these few blog posts to be a kind of testimony of my love for food, human relationships and mental health. Nothing too serious, nothing permanent, just ideas that flow.
